Tigran Karapetyan: “I will not enter into any political alliances”

Karapetyan says HAK feels threatened byhis huge turnouts Today is the final day of broadcasting for Tigran Karapetyan’s ALM TV station. At yesterday’s public rally in Yerevan Karapetyan, President of the People’s Party, said that the government had approached him with varying offers and proposals. Hetq asked Karapetyan what offers had been made and by whom. "I really don’t wish to talk about it. But, for example, the Yerevan TV station suggested that I be given a stake in the company and that I could purchase shares over time. I refused the offer since it was insulting," said Karapetyan We should remind readers that Karapetyan’s ALM station lost out to Yerevan TV in a recent tender competition for the renewal of broadcasting rights conducted by the State TV and Radio Commission. At the rally, attended by several thousands, Karapetyan presented a list of some fifteen demands from the government and would call for snap elections if the demand weren’t met by the time of his next rally in late February. The People’s Party leader also stated that he wouldn’t be entering into any political alliance with other parties of forces in the run-up to the 2012 parliamentary elections. "Why should I join forces with others when they aren’t around to support me when it’s necessary? Maybe Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s HAK feels threatened that I can rally as many demonstrators as it can. That why they belittle me and the people who show up at my rallies as being mislead. That’s so insulting," Karapetyan said.
