Jirayr Sefilyan, the well known opposition activist and a member of the Sardarabat Movement, said today that Levon Ter-Petrosyan should have urged HAK supporters to participate in yesterday’s rally organized by Tigran Karapetyan, President of the People’s Party. Mr. Sefilyan argues that this way, it would have become apparent if Tigran Karapetyan was being used by the ruling regime to further splinter the opposition. The Artsakh war vet, who has expressed criticism of some of Ter-Petrosyan’s viewpoints in the past, also stated that the opposition needed to find space for cooperation with others, including Karapetyan, if he sincerely opposed the present regime.

"Instead, we witness the opposite. Opposition forces are standing to one side and are looking on with jealousy and are berating Karapetyan. They are saying ‘What kind of people are they? Just look at who they are following.’ In reality, there is nothing wrong with the people," Sefilyan stated. He added that those opposition leaders who find fault with the people just prove that they are as removed from the people they profess to represent as the government itself.
