On February 25, the RA Administrative Court in Gyumri will convene a preliminary hearing of the suit filed by the Investigative Journalists NGO demanding that Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan make available certain information regarding the inheritance of certain prominent local families. Hetq had previously covered the longstanding legal dispute pitting one such family, the Drampyan’s, against the Gyumri Municipality. Hetq had sent a formal written request to the Gyumri Municipality back on July 6 that consisted of eight questions. It has taken the Gyumri mayor five long months to respond. In the meantime, Mr. Ghukasyan found the time to visit various foreign countries and work on several business plans. Only after the Investigative Journalists went to court did the mayor find a few minutes to send a muddled reply that, in essence was a run-around, but also implied that Hetq was driven by ulterior motives.
