Republican Party Still Waiting to Hear from ARF and Rule of Law about Joining Coalition

While the Prosperous Armenia party has officially stated that it will not be entering into a coalition with the ruling Republican Party, the ARF has left the door open to such a move, announcing that it will do so only if the new government accepts its seven point plan.

Orintas Yerkir (Rule of Law), a party that had been a junior coalition partner under the government of Tigran Sargsyan, who recently resigned as prime minister, has stated that it still hasn’t reached a decision on the matter given the new political state of affairs in the country.

When Hetq asked Republican Party VP Galust Sahakyan if his party would continue negotiations with Prosperous Armenia and the ARF, he said that the party was always engaged in the negotiations process with other political forces.

“Of course, Prosperous Armenia has expressed its opinion and I believe the ARF will do the same in a few days,” said Sahakyan.

He added that the reason why the ARF has delayed its decision wasn’t due to any disagreement between the Republican Party and the ARF, but rather an internal ARF matter.

Sahakyan said he was relatively confident that Orintas Yerkir would decide to join as a coalition member.

Armenia's Heritage Party and the HAK (Armenian National Congress) have already announced they will not be entering any government coalition.
