The General Prosecutor's Office of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has launched a criminal case in connection with the infiltration of an Azerbaijani "sabotage" group into the Shahumyan district of NKR.
As a result of intelligence activities carried out by the Ministry of Defense of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), NKR National Security Service, and NKR police divisions, found and arrested in the Shahumyan district were citizens of Azerbaijan Shahbaz Quliyev, 46, Dilham Askerov, 54, and one other man whose identity is being confirmed and who "demonstrated resistance" during his arrest and as a result was "destroyed". The men, according to the Armenian authorities, had several types of weapons on their person.
As reported by the General Prosecutor Office in NKR [in Armenian only], the items in their possession were used to carry out "sabotage, intelligence, and espionage operations."
Based on the initial collected materials and in connection with "illegally crossing a state border," a criminal case was launched. Both men are arrested and detention was chosen as the precautionary measure.
The NKR General Prosecutor's Office established an investigative team, which includes employees of the NKR National Security Service and corresponding divisions of the NKR police. An investigation is underway.
