Representatives of news media from the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR) on August 19 visited the front lines and military units of the Karabakh Defense Army where they met with soldiers and commanders, after which they attended a press conference held by the Minister of Defense of NKR Movses Hakobyan (pictured).

Prior to responding to questions from the press, the defense minister gave an opening speech, outlining the regional military and political situation in terms of recent developments at the front line, as well as the first-quarter results, and the current and future issues of capacity-building of the army.

Hakobyan said the opponent made 16 sabotage attempts this year, which is high compared to previous years. The other issue of escalating tension on the front line he mentioned was shooting by snipers using large-caliber weapons. In all cases, he said, our soldiers forced the opponent to retreat back to his starting position.
