Artsakh Prez on Berdzor Incident - "Sadly, it proved impossible to prevent disorder and clashes"

Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan convened a meeting today of top government officials to discuss the incident that took place on January 31 when a car convoy of members of an opposition political organization was blocked and subsequently attacked by Artsakh police and masked special forces near the border town of Berdzor.

Sahakyan repeated the claim that the action of the Founding Parliament organization had elicited widespread public displeasure in Artsakh and that the police had been called out to prevent clashes between Kashatagh residents and the convoy participants.

“Tragically, the situation developed in such a way that resulted in undesirable consequences. Sadly, it proved impossible to prevent disorder and clashes. Bako Sahakyan has instructed the police chief to conduct a detailed examination of what happened,” the statement from the presidential office reads.
