Fight for Armenian Rights Continues, Says Departing Member of Armenian Bar Association Board of Governors

Hovanes Margarian is stepping down as a member of the Armenian Bar Association’s Board of Governors.

In a letter expressing appreciation to fellow members of the Board, and to the Armenian Bar Association, Margarian writes: “it is with pride and fulfillment that I complete my term on its Board of Governors this weekend as the Association hosts its annual conference.”

Margarian, who also served on the Armenian Bar Association’s Executive Committee, owns a software development company in Armenia that sponsored the development and maintenance of the Association’s website.

Margarian’s involvement with the ABA started in 2003 when he was a law student.

In his farewell letter Margarian writes:

“My work with the Armenian Bar Association has been tremendously gratifying while equally humbling and educational. Working with its leadership, comprised of some of the brightest, most driven, highly dedicated Armenian attorneys, has been a true gift.”

Margarian says that the ABA’s stance, alongside other leading organizations in the forefront of protecting Armenian rights and pressing for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide has truly been gratifying.

Margarian’s message to Armenians is that the fight for justice continues.

“Above all, we must all realize that the fight is not yet over. While 20,000 took to the streets of Los Angeles in 2001 and 160,000 in 2015, we must make sure that 250,000 and more do the same in 2016 and onward until we obtain the justice we deserve.”
