Serj Tankian on Facebook: “Peaceful civic disobedience in Armenia has borne fruit”

System of a Down front man Serj Tankian, responding to the actions of the Yerevan Police to use force against and to detain hundreds of demonstrators in Yerevan protesting a recently approved electricity rate hike, used his Facebook page to call for “monopolistic foreign owned utility companies should be made a state asset.”

Referencing an Asbarez article on the protest, Tankian says such public action proves that Armenia’s civic society is burgeoning.

The post has so far garnered 1,800 likes.

All Armenians should Unify Against Their Tyrant state All Diasporan Armenians should unite against...  such ugly, selfish tyrants.  We should rule them...  They shall never rule our honest, dedicated race. Their populace had enough from tyrants ...  We are more numbered than them  and more powerful  We know what it means to live freedom-less We must teach them... What means the real democratic state... No one should chain any human ... They must live free ... on this earth ... Their fat necks are in our hands We must squeeze that fatness... Till we see their cyanotic blood on our arms! Let them taste ...What we can do with our willfulness  We must act very fast ... No delay ...The time is passing...like rockets We no longer want our honest people to suffer... They suffered for endless decades... We shout ragefully to say ... “Enough is Enough”...   (C) DR.
