The Founding Parliament political organization in Armenia reports that police detained Gevorg Safaryan, one of its members, earlier this afternoon while participating in a demonstration outside the presidential palace.

The demonstration was to protest the beating of Suzy Gevorgyan, a student residing in Russia, for her political beliefs.

The demonstration was organized by a group calling itself “We are the owners of our country”.

Safaryan was taken to Yerevan’s Arabkir police station.
