
Armenian President Attends Consecration of Holy Martyrs Armenian Catholic Church in Gyumri
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today was in the crowds of hundreds present at the consecration of the Armenian Catholic Holy Martyrs Church in Gyumri.
The ceremony was conducted under the co-presidency of Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the Roman Curia and Armenian Patriarch of Cilicia Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan (the head of the Armenian Catholic Church).
Papal Nuncio Archbishop Marek Solczyński tread the pastoral message of Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis, and a delegation of bishops from the Armenian Apostolic See of Holy Etchmiadzin delivered the patriarchal blessing of Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin the Second.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, a stone cross commemorating the martyrs has been placed in the center of the church’s courtyard.
