Armenian President: 'Azerbaijan Government Will be Held Accountable for Tribulations It Causes Its People'

Before discussing agenda issues in the 6th session of the state coordinating committee dedicated to events marking the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan took time to comment on Azerbaijan’s recent shelling of border villages in Armenia that killed three and injured several others.

“When we say that we are afraid of war but not of fighting, these aren’t empty words. Armenia, and when I say Armenia Mountainous Karabakh is an inseparable part of it, is one of the most militarized regions in the world…During the twenty years of the forced ceasefire, Baku’s attempts to remove the peace hasn’t been possible. We have done all to avert a new confrontation. Today, we will do all, including punitive measures,” Sargsyan said.

The Armenian president ended his remarks by saying that Armenia would force Azerbaijan’s government to be accountable to its people for the coming tribulations it will cause them.
