Yerevan Cops Detain 17 Demonstrating Against Constitutional Change Bill
Police detained 17 activists demonstrating outside Armenia’s National Assembly in opposition to a bill that, if passed, would allow for a referendum on changes to the country’s constitution.
HAK (Armenian National Congress) MP Aram Manoukyan was also detained but soon released after police found out he is a legislator.
Despite the import of the bill being voted on, only a hundred or so opponents appeared at the demonstration.
Needless to say, the bill was overwhelmingly passed later in the day.
