U.S. Plastic Surgeon Introduces New Breast Cancer Procedure to Armenia

A surgical procedure to remove a cancerous breast tumor and, at the same time, place a prosthetic implant in the patient, has been brought to Armenia for the first time by Professor Artur Salibian, a plastic surgeon from California.

Professor Salibian has been visiting Armenia for the past two years and has introduced the method, widely applied in America, to plastic surgeons in Armenia.

“In two years, we have performed seven such surgeries at the Kanaker Zeytoun and Armenian-American health centers,” Professor Salibian sad today at a meeting with Armenian Health Minister Armen Mouradyan.

Salibian announced that the procedure will also be introduced at the Fanarjyan National Oncology Center in Yerevan.

Minister Mouradyan pointed out that this medical initiative is especially targeted at women who need the procedure but cannot afford it.
