New Armenia Public Salvation Front to Launch Civil Disobedience to Remove President Sargsyan

The “New Armenia Public Salvation Front” (NAPSF), during its first news conference, stated that the country faced an ever deepening system-wide crisis due to the policies of the government and the criminal ruling Republican Party at its core.

The NAPSF stated that the ruling regime was seeking constitutional change solely to establish one-party rule and to maintain continuing control of authority.

The new organization’s political council consists of Raffi Hovannisian (Heritage Party president), Armen Martirosyan (Heritage Party vice-president), Garegin Chukaszyan (Founding Parliament president) Jirayr Sefilyan (Founding Parliament Secretariat Coordinator), Petros Makeyan (Democartic Fatherland Party President), Hmayak Hovhannisyan (President, Union of Political Scientists of Armenia), and Andreas Ghukasyan (Representative of the Arise Armenia Civic Movement).

The NAPSF announced that it would mobilize the populace and launch civil disobedience to remove President Serzh Sargsyan and his regime and to put a halt to the process of constitutional change now underway.

The organization said its aim was to establish constitutional governance in Armenia through free and fair snap elections.

The NAPSF declared that it would organize a national rally in Yerevan, the date of which to be announced later, to mark the start of its actions.
