50 Prisoners Serving Life Sentences in Armenia Declare Hunger Strike; Demand Case Review
Fifty prisoners serving life sentences in Armenia have declared an open ended hunger strike, demanding that their cases be reviewed.
Their relatives told Hetq that the prisoners have handed a ten point petition, addressed to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, to the head of the Noubarashen Penitentiary where they are serving out their sentences.
Copies of the petition have also been addressed to Armenia’s Prosecutor General, the Minister of Justice, Armenia’s Human Rights Defender, and the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
