Hetq Wins Freedom of Information Suit Against Prosecutor General's Office
Hetq won a freedom of information suit against the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) seeking to be allowed access to court material regarding the 1995 trial of Soghomon Kocharyan.
Today, Administrative Court Judge Lianna Hakobyan obligated the PGO to hand over the requested material to Hetq as part of its investigation into Kocharyan’s murder trial that resulted in a capital punishment sentence.
Kocharyan was released today from serving a life sentence in another Yerevan court for medical reasons.
The Prosecutor General’s Office failed to respond to two Hetq applications for the court material.
In her ruling, Judge Hakobyan ordered the PGO to compensate Hetq 80,000 drams for legal fees and 4,000 drams for court fees.
