Kapan, a town in Armenia’s Syunik province, and Areni, a village in Vayots Dzor province, have been named the best urban and rural communities respectively by the country’s ministry of territorial administration and the Union of Communities of Armenia.

This “Best Community of the Year” annual competition started in 2005.

Ararat, a town in Ararat province was named the cleanest urban community.

Sasounik, a village in Aragatzotn, won as the cleanest rural community.
