Police Announce 'Increased Presence' for December 1 Opposition Rallies in Yerevan

Armenia's Police Department has  stated that it will be out ‘in force’ to prevent all illegal acts by individuals and actions of an instigator nature during public rallies scheduled to take place on December 1 in Yerevan.

The rallies are specifically in opposition to proposed changes to Armenia’s constitution and to the Sargsyan regime in general.

To maintain public order, the police are also urging rally organizers to heed police instructions and to respect the constitutional rights of others.

The police, in their communiqué, also call on rally organizers and participants to cooperate with law enforcement when the need arises, and to immediately inform law enforcement   if they observe any suspicious activity or behavior.

In conclusion, the police department says it will employ all necessary and appropriate measures if it observes violations of the constitution illegal, the law regarding freedom of rallies, or other legal orders
