The mayor’s office in Gyumri, Armenia’s second largest city, reports that drivers will now be able to park their cars for free at designated parking spaces of January 1, 2016.

Gyumri’s municipal council passed the decision in December, citing the poor economic situation of local residents and complaints by drivers regarding parking fees.

Another reason cited is that paid parking fees weren’t contributing all that much to the town’s budget.
