Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has said that Armenian military losses in the recent round of fighting along the Artsakh Line of Contact amount to 18 dead and some 35 wounded.

Sargsyan, recently back from a nuclear security summit in the U.S, chaired a session of Armenia’s National Security Council in Yerevan earlier this evening.

Sargsyan also said that on the return flight to Armenia he had been briefed on the situation and believed that measures taken in his absence were correct.

Sargsyan said during his meetings with U.S Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry he called on them to warn Azerbaijan not to violate the ceasefire/

Sadly, Sargsyan told the council attendees, just a few hours later events took place on the ground and we still don’t know how they’ll end.
