Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has welcomed today’s approval by the German parliament of a resolution calling the mass killing of Armenians in 1915 as ‘genocide’.

“Armenia welcomes the German Bundestag’s passage of a motion on the genocide committed against Armenians and other Christian peoples,” Nalbandyan said in his remarks.

The Armenian foreign minister also chided Turkey for continuously denying the historical reality of the Armenian Genocide whilst Germany and Austria, allies of the Ottoman Empire at the time, have accepted their portion of responsibility in its implementation.  

“The international community has been waiting one hundred and one years for Turkey to confront its history,” Nalbandian’s remarks conclude.
