
Yerevan Police Detain 6: Allege They Were Planning "Mass Disorder" at Pope Francis Concert
Yerevan police report they have detained six individuals suspected of planning “mass disorder” in connection with Pope Francis’s visit to Armenia.
The police communique states that the Yerevan Municipality had received word that the opposition “Founding Parliament” organization was planning to stage a 200-person rally in Yerevan’s Republic Square during a peace prayer and concert to mark the pope’s visit to Armenia.
Staffers at Armenia’s Human Rights Defenders Office are planning to visit those detained.
