
Yerevan: Armed Group Takes Four Medical Personnel Hostage, Says Police
The Sasna Dzrer armed group took four medical personnel hostage last night, this according to the Yerevan police.
According to the police report, an ambulance was dispatched to the police building seized by the armed group on July 17 to treat two of the group that had been wounded in a firefight last night.
When the ambulance arrived, the medical personnel were taken by the group holed up inside the building.
Armenia’s Ministry of Health reports that the four – physicians Norayr Tevanyan and Salvador Khechoyan, paramedic Davit Tonoyan and nurse Malina Margaryan – are employees of Emergency Ltd.
The ministry says that the medical community condemns the act and demands the immediate release of the four hostages without any preconditions.
