Ashot Karapetyan has been dismissed from the post of Head of the Yerevan City Police Department, this according to the Police website.

Ashot Karapetyan and a number of other police employees had been received “disciplinary actions” as a result of their conduct during the two-week standoff between the armed SasnaDzrer group and law enforcement.

While no reason for the dismissal was officially given, a Human Rights Watch report concluded that police used excessive force and arbitrarily detained demonstrators and journalists in Yerevan.
