Police Officials Charged with Abuse of Power, Hindering Reporters During Electric Yerevan Protests

Armenia’s Special Investigative Service (SIS) has announced that a number of police officials have been found guilty of abusing their powers and hindering reporters covering the Electric Yerevan protests on June 23, 2015.

In a communique released today, the SIS named Lieutenant Colonel Davit Perikhanyan (Head of the Police Force’s N Unit’s Rocket-Artillery Service), Captain Kostan Boudaghyan (Senior Supervisor of Yerevan’s Patrol Service Police Regiment) and two affiliated servicemen, Tatchar Noratounkyan and Artour Ayvazyan, of hindering reporters and damaging their equipment in Liberty Square and along Baghramyan Avenue.

The officials have been temporarily dismissed from duty.
