Local elections are taking place today in 317 communities in Armenia’s provinces of Aragatzotn, Ararat, Armavir, Syunik and Tavoush.

22 communities will only elect a mayor, and 80 a municipal council. The rest will elect both.

The Republican Party, Prosperous Armenia, the ARF and Rule of Law will have representatives in election committees at all 541 polling stations.

The Armenian National Congress (HAK), will be represented in 36 local election committees.

Heritage Party will be represented at just one local committee.

Observers from one international organization (Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe) and ten local organizations will be on hand to monitor the vote.
