14 Armenian MPs have signed a petition calling for the lifting of pre-trial detention imposed on Andreas Ghukasyan, a member of the Votki Hayastan (Rise Up Armenia) civic group now facing charges of inciting public disorder during the siege of a Yerevan police building in July.

Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) MP Tigran Ourikhanyan launched the petition drive in Armenia’s parliament.

Ghukasyan was recently denied bail.

Most who have signed are members of Prosperous Armenia. Notable exceptions are Alexander Arzumanyan, Khachatur Kokobelyan, Zaruhie Postanjyan, Tevan Poghosyan and Stepan Demirjyan.
