WWF Launches Program to Protect Caucasus Leopard in Armenia
As part of a program to save the critically endangered Caucasus leopard (Panthera pardus ciscaucasica), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has launched the Leopard Caretakers’ Network project designed to unite society, international bodies and the private/state sectors with the aim of strengthening mechanisms to preserve leopard and their prey – the Armenian mouflon and Bezor goat.
Since 2002, the WWF has been implementing a program in Armenia to preserve the leopard, resulting not only in a return of the species but also a slight population increase.
