Armenian National Congress Licks Its Wounds and Focuses on 2017 Parliamentary Elections
Arguing that it losses in the October 2 local elections in Gyumri and Vanadzor (the second and third largest towns in Armenia) were due to “clan politics” and its own shortcomings, the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) announced today that it would regroup, examine the elections, and draft a new electoral strategy.
HAK said that it participated in the elections, based on a party-basis, because it believed there would be a healthy competition of political programs and positions.
Sadly, according to HAK, the elections in Gyumri and Vanadzor were based on clan ties, bribes and pressure brought to bear on voters.
The party says all its efforts will be now directed towards winning the April 2017 parliamentary elections and thus, regime change.
