Armenia Central Bank Employees to Get New Offices and Continued Health Insurance

Armenia’s Central Bank is a lot like Fort Knox. Accessibility is a bummer.

Under the ruse of “secrecy”, the Central Bank’s board manages huge amounts of budgetary funds far from the public’s gaze.

According to Armenia’s 2017 estimated budget, the Bank will receive 56% more in funds to construct and obtain offices than it did last year.

1.620 billion AMD (US$3.4 million) is to be allocated to alleviate sink holes at the guest house and residential building at the Bank’s education/research center in Dilijan.

The Bank will also get 526 million AMD ($1.1 million) to construct a new residential building for employees.

442.5 million AMD ($933,000) will go to provide health insurance to Bank employyes and family members.

The average monthly salary of Bank employees this year is 586,000 AMD ($1,235) and will increase to 603,000 AMD in 2017.

Some 820 people will be working at the Bank in 2017.
