Yesterday, according to a Armenia Ministry of Justice press release, representatives from more than ten NGOs discussed a bill to prevent domestic violence in Armenia.

The names of the NGOs attending the working session were not specified in the communique.

At the session were Deputy Justice Minister Vigen Kocharyan and officials from the Council of Europe, among others.

Kocharyan is said to have welcomed the NGO representatives, thanking them for cooperating with the ministry, and for submitting observations regarding the bill.

“We are ready to hear all proposals that can improve this or that clause in the bill, and are ready to enter any type of dialogue on the matter,” Kocharyan said.

The bill will undergo a final draft and then will be debated again by the NGO representatives.
