Armenia's HRD and UNHCR Rep Discuss Financial Aid to Syrian-Armenian Refugees

Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has held a discussion regarding Syrian-Armenian refugees with Christoph Bierwith, who represents the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Armenia.

The two spoke about possible United Nations assistance regarding housing Syrian-Armenians who are now residing in Armenia and related matters.

Tatoyan stressed the importance of formalizing residency issues for those Syrian-Armenians who wish to relocate to Armenia as well as providing them legal advice.

Also discussed the possibility of the UNHCR providing financial assistance to the next wave of Syrian-Armenian families expected to move to Armenia.

According to a statement released by Tatoyan’s office, Bierwith said the UNHCR was ready to offer assistance within the purview of its mandate, noting that work in this regard was being carried out.
