Armenia's National Football Squad Gets New Head Coach
The Football Federation of Armenia has appointed Artour Petrosyan, currently the coach of the Zurich-2 team in Switzerland, as the new head coach of Armenia’s national team.
The federation, bowing to public pressure after the recent defeats of Armenia in 2018 World Cup qualifying matches, dismissed Varujan Sukiasyan as coach.
Petrosyan, a native of Gyumri, played for that city’s Shirak team from 1989-1998. He then played for squads in Israel, Russia and Switzerland.
From 1992-2005, Petrosyan played in 69 matches with Armenia’s national squad, scoring 11 goals.
