
Armenian Defense Minister Plans to Increase Aid to Families of Dead and Disabled Soldiers
Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan today advised President Serzh Sargsyan about a draft plan to substantially raise social payments to those wounded while serving in the army and to families of soldiers killed while on active duty.
Minister Sargsyan told the president that as of January 28, 2017, families of those killed while on active duty or military personnel sustaining level one disabilities will receive a one-time payment of 10 million AMD ($21,000). Those incurring level two disabilities will receive 5 million AMD.
Monthly social payments for those killed and incurring level one disabilities will amount to 300,000 AMD ($628) for officers, 250,000 AMD for NCOs, and 200,000 for rank and file soldiers. Payments for those suffering level two disabilities will be 250,000; 200,000; and 150,000 respectively.
Such social payments will be made for twenty years.
