The UNICEF office in Armenia today appointed footballer Henrikh Mkhitaryan, a member of Armenia’s national squad and a midfield defender for Manchester United, as its goodwill ambassador in Armenia, this according to the Football Federation of Armenia’s website.

The website says that “Henrikh Mkhitaryan will support UNICEF in advocating children’s right to education, sports and play and use his voice to bring awareness to the rights of the most marginalized children in Armenia.” 

“It’s sad to know that not all children have the same opportunity to attend school and have access to quality early learning and education. All children should be able to enjoy the opportunity to reach their full potential and become productive citizens,” said Mkhitaryan at the appointment ceremony.
