At a Yerevan court today, Paruyr Hayrikyan’s lawyer said his client was rescinding his slander suit against the Hraparak newspaper.

Hayrikian had originally filed a slander suit against the newspaper and Communist Party members Gegham Galstyan and Norik Petrosyan.

Earlier this year a heated public debate took place between Hayrikyan and the communists in the pages of Hraparak.

In his legal suit, the plaintiff wanted the court to force Hraparak to publish a retraction of the passages that he found offensive. Hayrikyan also wanted the paper to publish the conclusion of the court’s verdict.

The court sustained the plaintiff’s motion to drop proceedings against Hraparak.
