Armenia’s Syunik Governor Paid 275,875 Euros for Apartment Overlooking Mediterranean Sea in Spain

Hetq recently wrote that Vahe Hakobyan, governor of Armenia’s Syunik province, owns real estate in Spain.

Before becoming governor in October 2016, Hakobyan served as the administrative director of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Plant and then as the first deputy to the general director.

Hakobyan is running for a parliamentary seat in Syunik on the Republican Party of Armenia ticket, even though he’s registered as living with his parents and brother in Yerevan.

Upon his appointment as Syunik governor, Hakobyan declared an apartment in a multi-residential building and a plot of land. According to his 2016 financial disclosure, he purchased the apartment for 275,875 euros.

While Armenia’s Ethics Committee for High-Ranking Officials keeps the addresses of the property a secret, we can obtain them from data supplied by the Central Electoral Commission.

As stated above, Hakobyan owns an apartment and a piece of land. The land, measuring .17 hectares is located at 95/3 Ghapantsyan Street in Yerevan’s Arabkir district.

He’s the co-owner of a 90-square meter apartment in Spain’s eastern Mediterranean province of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca coastline.

Hakobyan’s apartment is in a building called Sea Coast. It was built by an outfit called Euromarina.

Available apartments measure from 66-122 square meters. They come with two baths and bedrooms, plus a terrace. There’s a swimming pool for residents and underground parking.

All 54 apartments have a view of the Mediterranean Sea.
