Istanbul Prosecutor Calls for Detention of 8 in Dink Murder Investigation

The Anatolia News Agency reports that the Istanbul prosecutor’s office has issued instructions to detain eight individuals in the investigation regarding the January 2007 murder of then Agos editor Hrant Dink.

According to an Agos article, six have already been taken into custody. A manhunt has been launched for the other two.

It appears the eight individuals, all reporters, are suspected of having distributed photos and videos to the press of Ogün Samast, the 17-year-old who assassinated Dink, at a Samsun police station after having been arrested.

Samast appears against the backdrop of a Turkish flag with the words “The soil of the fatherland is sacred and cannot be left to the whim of destiny” written on it.
