Six Artsakh Village Families Get New Homes

Luminaries from the diaspora danced with residents of the Artsakh village of Arajamough as they handed the keys of new homes to six local families.

On hand for the event were Serj Tankian, Arsine Khanjian, Atom Egoyan and Eric Nazaryan, who were on a two-day tour of Artsakh.

Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan was also present at the ceremony.

Raffi Dudaklyan of the Tufenkian Foundation said that the houses were built with co-financing from the foundation, the USA Artsakh Fund, and the Artsakh government.

“Arajamough is strategically important for Artsakh. Thus, our next step is to rebuild the school and to construct a health aid clinic,” Dudaklyan said.

One of the new homes was allocated to the Nazaryan family, who moved to Artsakh in 2013.

“At last, we have our own home,” said Mr. Nazaryan. “Work is not a problem here, since I served in the army and am planning to return.”

The Tufenkian Foundation created the village of Arajamough in 2004.
