Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Herbert Salber, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and for the Crisis in Georgia, in Yerevan on April 26.

President Sargsyan congratulated Herbert Salber on the extension of his mandate by the EU Council and wished him every success. Sargsyan noted that the work of the EU Special Representative is highly appreciated in Armenia, since its main objective is to establish an atmosphere of confidence among the parties for a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

At the meeting, the parties spoke about Armenia-EU relations, the recent parliamentary election held in Armenia, reforms implemented in different sectors, as well as the opportunities for moving the NK peace process forward.

Herbert Salber congratulated the president on the successful parliamentary election, underscoring that the election was a significant step forward from the viewpoint of stability and strengthening democracy in the country. Salber added that problems observed during the voting process are solvable.
