Attorney Boycott: Sasna Dzrer Trial Postponed

Today’s trial session of the Sasna Dzrer defendants was postponed since most of the attorneys staged a boycott to protest what they claim are arbitrary personal and property searches by court bailiffs before they’re allowed to enter the courtroom.

One of the attorneys, Yervand Gabrielyan, sent a letter announcing the boycott and its underlying reasons to Judge Artoush Gabrielyan who dismissed their arguments as unacceptable.

“The court does not look favorably on the absence of the attorneys. They are obligated to be present at all court sessions. Thus, the court might have something to say regarding their behavior at the next session,” Gabrielyan announced in court.

The eighteen defendants are on trial for seizing a Yerevan police station in July 2016 and holding hostages.
