Armenia: Over 4,000 Illegal Weapons Seized During Past 7 Years

From January 2010 to September 2017, police in Armenia have seized 4,183 illegal weapons.

729 were seized last year, the largest number since 2010.

The weapons are first subjected to forensic examination to see if they can be linked to any criminal cases.

If not, those weapons not in working order are destroyed. Hunting weapons (rifles, shotguns) are allocated to licensed retailers for sale.

The police keep the remaining working weapons, distributing them to subdivisions as service weapons.
