As part of a program to modernize and extend the life of the Metsamor nuclear reactor’s second energy unit, more than 690 pieces of equipment have been examined in 2017, this according to Armenia’s Ministry of Energy Infrastructure and Natural Resources.

Delivery of a new turbine generator, a submersible water heater, cooling pumps and other replacement systems have reached the plant.

The program to extend the life of the plant’s second unit is being carried out with a $270 million loan and $30 million grant provided by Russia.
