Citing Turkish intransigence, Armenia has recalled the 2009 Zurich Armenian-Turkey Protocols, from the parliament's agenda.

At a meeting today in Yerevan of Armenia’s National Security Council, President Serzh Sargsyan noted the lack of progress exhibited by Turkey on the matter of normalizing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Sargsyan said that his government had declared, on several occasions, that if Turkey’s policy didn’t change, Armenia would regard the protocols as null and void.

Sargsyan then issued a directive calling for the removal of the Protocols from parliament's agenda

The protocols required ratification from the parliaments of both countries to take effect.

Designed to allow the opening of borders and to forge diplomatic relations, the 2009 agreement was brokered by the U.S., Russia and France.
