During his tour of Armavir Province, Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan visited an ostrich farm in the community of Pstavan and extolled the venture launched in 2008.
In addition to raising 500 ostriches, the farm also produces dried meats (basturma and soujoukh) marketed exclusively in Armenia.
Karapetyan also visited the community of Artamet, where Iranian-Armenian investors have launched a large-scale pistachio farm.
According to the government press release, some US$10 million has been invested to grow pistachios on the 590-hectare site.
The prime minister then toured the Voskeni Wines plant in Sardarapat.
