Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today published a statement calling recent developments in Armenia “unprecedented” and ushering in “a new page in Armenian history”.

“We are living in a new Armenia where each individual and the Armenian diaspora must invest their energy and passion for the development of the country…An Armenia that will be the Armenia of my dreams and your dreams,” Sarkissian writes.

The president then calls on all political forces, especially those represented in the parliament, to “pave the road opened to the new Armenia that Serzh Sargsyan opened, in harmony and according to the constitution.”

“All of us are obliged to carry out this historic mission that has befallen us in an appropriate manner. Those political forces that enjoy the trust of the majority of the populace must steer the country along this path in unison,” Sarkissian writes.

“I am proud to see the Armenia of today, and glad to live in the strong, united, just and prospering Armenia of tomorrow,” the president statement concludes.
