Armenia: Pashinyan and Team to Discuss May 1 Parliamentary Special Session

Nikol Pashinyan, the anti-government protest leader who has toppled Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister and is now demanding a “transfer of power to the people”, says he and his team will meet today to discuss the parliament’s plan to convene a special session on May 1 regarding the election of the country’s next prime minister.

Serzh Sargsyan resigned on April 23. Talks between Pashinyan and Karen Karapetyan, the country’s acting prime minister, have broken down, leaving Armenia in something of a political impasse.
