Karapetyan, Putin Talk; Endorse May 1 Election of New Armenian Prime Minister

An Armenian government press release states that Acting Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone today and discussed the political situation in Armenia.

The release says that the two stressed the need to resolve the current political impasse within a legal framework, according to the constitution, and based on the results of the “legitimate” parliamentary elections of April 2017.

The Armenian parliament is going ahead with plans to elect a new prime minister on May 1.

The anti-government movement spearheaded by Nikol Pashinyan, which forced the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister on April 23, says it will not accept any such election results.

Pashinyan has called for the “capitulation” of the Republican Party of Armenia which has a parliamentary majority.

Dear Ominac, that what happened in Armenia until April 23 could be described as strong dissatisfaction, expressed by the majority of the people from the fact, that Serzh Sargsyan again wanted to stay in the head of power. The discontent resulted in the movement headed Pashinyan, who until April 23 did not say that he wants to become Prime Minister of Armenia (I think he did not speak about it specialy). As a cunning man (cunning kind of the mind have many village people, and he's one of them), he was looking how many people is going to the meetings.

Revolution, by definition, is a non-legal action. In the mean time, if Russia and Iran are protectors of Armenia, do they have something to say in this conflict? Can Armenia stay alive without the protection of those two neighbors?

that statement is oxymoron, you can not have a revolution and transfer of power solely based on legal terms. Like it or not there will be a timeframe where the transfer of power will be on non legal terms. Who ever talks on absolute legal terms is trying to extend the misery.
