Armenia's New Police Chief: "All Equal Under the Law"

Valery Osipyan, Armenia’s newly appointed police chief, told reporters today “that all are equal under the law in Armenia” and said he would resign today if anyone could prove that he’s ever abused his authority or used violence against anyone.

Claiming that he has always stood with the public, Osipyan said that Prime Minister Pashinyan instructed him to serve the people.

“I have served on the frontline, in law enforcement, in the system. Whoever would be in my stead, it seems to me, would display a new attitude in the job. That’s to say, the prime minister appointed the person he sought,” Osipyan told reporters before Pashinyan’s first cabinet session.
